Bombardier Q200 based in Madeira temporarily replaced with Bombardier Q400 NextGen
Published on 23 November, 2011Due to scheduled maintenance on the Bombardier Q200 aircraft with registration CSTRC operating in the Azores (primarily to Corvo Island), and to keep flights running to the Azores’ smallest island during this aircraft’s downtime (23 November to 9 December), SATA will be replacing the Bombardier Q200 based in Funchal with a Bombardier Q400 NextGen.
In accordance with a Bombardier aircraft maintenance plan created by SATA and the manufacturer, the Bombardier Q200 aircraft with registration CS‐TRC that normally flies to Corvo Island will begin scheduled maintenance for around 15 days (from 24 November to 09 December).
During this time, to keep flights running to the Azores’ smallest island (Corvo), which can only be done with a Bombardier Q200, SATA Air Açores will be temporarily transferring a Q400 NextGen aircraft to Madeira in place of the Bombardier Q200 that normally flies between Funchal and Porto Santo, thereby complying with public service obligations in the two regions, namely in flights to Corvo and between Madeira and Porto Santo.
Flights in the Azores will in no way be compromised due to this change, since this downtime has been scheduled during the IATA winter season, when there is less traffic in the Azores, and thus is the chosen time for all preventive maintenance for the SATA Air Açores fleet.
