Clarification

Following statements made by Paulo Rosa, member of Parliament, with regard to the exception system at the Corvo Aerodrome for the screening of passengers, baggage and cargo, Grupo SATA wishes to make the following clarification:

1 – The National Institute of Civil Aeronautics (INAC) has authorized SATA Aerodrome Management to employ a special security system for the Corvo Island Aerodrome, in which it must manually screen all departing passengers, baggage and cargo;

2 – The entities legally authorized to perform this type of screening at the airports managed by SATA Aerodrome Management are the Public Security Police (PSP) and National Republican Guard (GNR). On Corvo Island, this screening is done by the GNR. As such, any additional clarifications in this regard should be directed to this entity;

3 – SATA Aerodrome Management wishes to further add that, as part of the Corvo Island Aerodrome’s renovation project, which includes the construction of a new terminal, plans are in place to install all of the mandatory equipment needed to carry out procedures involving the screening of passengers, baggage and cargo; as such, the special security system authorized by the INAC will no longer be needed.
